Drinking Water

What is an RO and why do I need it?

Clean, safe drinking water is vital to life. Unfortunately, water free of harmful contaminants is a luxury we as West Texans don’t have. Many recent national studies have found that public utilities have supplied thousands of people with drinking water that contains high levels of radiation, lead, and arsenic. We are at a point in time where all of our drinking water sources including municipal water systems and wells, contain some contamination.

Contaminants range from naturally-occurring minerals to human-made chemicals and by-products. The Safe Drinking Water Act (SDWA) defines “contaminant” as any physical, chemical, biological or radiological substance or matter in water. Drinking water may reasonably be expected to contain at least small amounts of some contaminants. We are aware that some pollutants found at low levels do not cause immediate health risks. However, it is proven that even low-level exposures over time have the potential of causing severe illnesses and other serious ailments. The EWG’s Tap Water Database is an incredible resource. Visit their website to find out what contaminants are in your water. Just type in your zip code at the top of the page.

Fortunately, you can purify the water coming through the tap. Reverse Osmosis, also referred to as RO removes contaminants by pushing water through a semi-permeable membrane that will separate clean water from contaminated water into two separate streams, leaving the impurities behind. Kinetico of West Texas offers a variety of custom solutions for your home or business.

For example, our RO systems are tested and certified for the reduction of the following contaminants:

  • Arsenic
  • Lead
  • Copper
  • Nitrates
  • Chromium
  • Fluoride
  • Radon
  • Barium

After installing a Kinetico Reverse Osmosis System, you won’t have to purchase plastic bottled water for drinking, plus you’ll have better-tasting coffee and tea! But most importantly, you will have peace of mind knowing that you and your family can enjoy pure, healthy water free of contaminants straight from the tap. That is a promise.
